I have not heard about a deadline for Tier II supliers as yet from GM. I have checked with some of the JCI GM business unit tier 1 plants and they are talking about requireing it for their tier II suppliers as of 2004, but that is not in stone and does not come from GM. I will continue to check the first of the week and see if I can find anything more concret for you. Mike J.

Our company is a Tier 2 supplier. Though the Big 3 did not set any requirements for registration, our corporate office in the US gave us a schedule 1 year behind the direct suppliers. The sooner you get started, the better it is, from a due diligence and cost savings point of view. Registration is the formal end of the rainbow for any company with an effective EMS. I recommend keeping in close contact with your customers, and suppliers since they may have ISO 14000 demands on them that may fall back on your company.
