I am looking for some help in finding a company that can provide the safe collection of toner cartridges (from printing machines and faxes etc) from schools within the York Region of Ontario.
If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be extremely helpful.
Thanks

we are instituting a recycling program at our facilitities including, (eventually), our new Elmira site. We have found that between 20 and 70% of the cartridges returned to manufacturers are summarily discarded due to lack of repair capibility. We have found an independent recycler in Ky that offers a mail in program and pays between .25 and $10 US for cell phones, inkjet and copier cartridges. The only cartidges that they categorically won't handle are Lexmarks due to the "Killer" chip Lexmark has installed to prevent other companies from recycling their products. The name of the company is Smart Cart and they are a division or Laser Images. They can be contacted at (502)-968-0990. Ask for Julliette. They can send you a list of which cartridges they handle and which ones they can't. (They are also a source of inexpensive replacement cartridges since they sell the cartridges that they remanufacture).

Mike,
Many thanks for the reply. Its grately appreciated.
I managed to find a charitable organization near to my company HO, which could partner us and offer financial rewards to local schools for returned cartridges.
Thank you for your response,
Steve Adams

Hi Steve; Glad you found a company! Our company also partners businesses with Schools and we have found that many Schools go with our program because we pay them the most money. We have a great number of Schools in York region and across Ontario that are on our Program. We provide free pick up as needed of inkjet and toner cartridges and the funds generated go to the Schools on our program, who then use this money to buy equipment, plant trees etc. If interested please see our website at www.planet-earth.ca
Thanks. Leslie
