British Columbia Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Regulation and Related Materials

Guidelines for Part 6 of the OH&S Regulation - ASBESTOS, Workers’ Compensation Board of British Columbia

Safe Work Practices for Handling Asbestos (pdf format), 2001 Edition, Published by the Workers’ Compensation Board of British Columbia

Waste asbestos must be transported and disposed of according to the British Columbia Waste Management Act and Special Waste Regulation, and local landfill rules.

Note: The Special Waste Regulation defines "waste asbestos" as a waste containing friable asbestos fibres or asbestos dust in a concentration greater than 1% by weight either at the time of manufacture, or as determined by the test method "Asbestos in Bulk Samples - Dispersion Staining", Industrial Hygiene Laboratory Analytical Methods, by the Workers' Compensation Board of British Columbia.
